Director of Photography Joe Elwell's vision on Cano is similar, "Actually, with Nery being a bi-lingual woman I thought she'd be great with brides and help me out with a few simple things. Then I saw her specifically arrange the wedding party to include a very beautiful sunset over the water and a docked boat off to the side and I knew she had what it takes for this job. When I saw the shots she'd taken I was blown away." Nery interjects, "That's very nice of Joe to say, but even though I've shot a few weddings alone, I actually prefer being an assistant more than being the main photographer." Gary Byron, president of Tone Zone says, "I think she's selling herself short. I wouldn't be surprised that in one year's time, we're getting requests specifically for Nery. It's a natural progression." Cano concludes, "Maybe down the road, but for now I'm happy to be a photographer's assistant with Tone Zone."

Nery Cano resides in Hartford with her husband, Michael. She recently gave birth to her first child and has taken a leave of absence from all photography work. We'll keep you posted upon her return. |

Ever since she can remember, Nery Cano had a flare for creativity. "Yeah, I would always look at things differently than a lot of other people. When I'd take pictures at family functions, I'd always arrange people in certain ways and pay attention to what was in the background. So that's the approach I take with my photography." But it would take her own wedding before she'd make the leap to wedding photography. Cano continues, "I hired Joe Elwell at J Everett Photography for my wedding and his ideas really opened my eyes even wider. I told him I, too, was a photographer. He looked at my work and instantly took me on as an assistant." Tone Zone's |
